When the Mission Walked Out the Door

💔 I Didn’t Take This Job Because I Needed It
I took it because I believed in the mission — in helping patients, building access to care, and creating something that mattered.
But somewhere along the way, the mission walked out the door…and retaliation walked in.
⚕️ When Purpose Meets Power
What happens when a system built to heal turns on the people who sustain it?
When you raise your voice for safety, fairness, or equity — and the response isn’t gratitude, but punishment?
That’s what retaliation looks like in healthcare.
And it’s why so many good clinicians walk away burned out, disillusioned, or broken.
But here’s the truth: I didn’t walk away.
I rebuilt.
And now I’m telling the story they hoped would stay quiet.
🔥 The Real Mission Never Left
The mission didn’t die — it evolved.
It became the Phoenix Advocacy Network.
A movement for those who’ve been silenced, shamed, or retaliated against for doing the right thing.
Because we can’t fix a broken system by staying quiet inside it.
We fix it by speaking, together.
I didn’t take this job because I needed it.
I took it because I believed in the mission.
And I still do.
